WELCOME IN DELFT

From 10th December 2019 until 4th January 2020, the city of Delft organises The Dark Days of Delft. The historical centre is beautifully illuminated, and the entrepreneurs go all out to present Delft in the most intimate way. This Delft tradition starts on the second Tuesday of December with the magical Lichtjesavond (Night of Lights) and ends on the first Saturday of January, when all citizens and tourists are invited to join the mayor and city council in their New Year's drink on the market square. During this period, thousands of visitors travel to Delft to watch the beautiful spectacle and enjoy the warm and cosy Christmas ambience.
On 10th December, Night of Lights will be celebrated. On the historic market square, thousands of lights in the Christmas tree will be lit. Carolers in Charles Dickens outfit will sing popular Christmas songs, and while drinking hot mulled wine (or chocolate milk with whipped cream), you can wander along the kilometre-long Light Market where stalls offer good food, curios and knick-knacks.
After Night of Lights until 4th January, several winter activities and sights are open to the public.. Admire the beautiful shop windows of the Windows White Awards, make a pirouette on the skating rink of Winters Delft at X-TUDelft or watch one of the performances of the Delft Winter Podium. Stay the night in one of our hotels, enjoy an array of winter dinner packages or shop for the last Christmas presents. On 4th January, we will raise our glasses and toast a healthy and magical 2020

Winters Delft is thé place for lots of ice fun! Do you want to skate during your visit in Delft? Then you've come to the right place here. Please note: the iceskating rink is not in the city center, but takes place on X on the TU Delft campus. The iceskating rink is easily accessible by bicycle and public transport. There is also sufficient parking space.

Lichtjesavond (Lights-evening) is the start of The Dark Days of Delft. Together with 40,000 other visitors, you’ll be able to enjoy Delft’s warmth and cosiness during an evening of shopping, music and theatre.
CHRISTMAS MARKET WIPPOLDER

The 'Lichtpuntjes' Vrijenban Wippolder Christmas Market is a cozy Christmas market for the whole family! On December 11, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the Koepoortplaats will be filled with plenty of children's activities, stalls full of fun for under (or in) the Christmas tree and tasty snacks.
SWAN MARKET

From Friday December 13th untill Sunday December 15th there will be Swan Market in Delft! Shop the finest gifts and must-haves from creative locals, take a bite at one of the tasteful food stands or play with your kids on the inflatables. It's all possible during this special winter edition in the city center of Delft!
INTIMATE LIVING ROOM CONCERTS

There will stand a yurt on the terrace of the Wijnhaven. Well-known artists will give short performances between December 13th and 15th. It will be announced who will perform, but not at what time. So it's almost like you're buying a lottery ticket!
BIERGARTEN

There is plenty to do in Delft on the weekend of 13th to 15th December, including at the Heilige Geestkerkhof. During Lichtjesavond there is a wintry beer garden on the square, which will remain standing for a few days afterwards. Various activities will take place in this beer garden.

Festive shopping on Friday evenings - doesn't that sound like music to your ears? Give the shopaholic all freedom and make an extra tour of the shops in the city center. Especially for you, they keep their doors open until 11 p.m. and they also have exciting extras in store for you.
SANTA RUN

After previous successful editions, it is time again for the Santa Run of Delft. Collect money for charity and run three kilometers through the beautiful city center, with the Burgwal as the start and end point.
